Costs & savings

Solar pricing should never be a mystery. Below are indicative bands for India-style projects-your formal quote after survey will reflect structure, distance, components, and local charges.

On-grid rooftop

₹45k–70k

Per kW installed (indicative, residential band)

Hybrid premium

Battery +

Adds battery & hybrid inverter cost vs on-grid

Payback (typical)

3–6 yr

On-grid, high self-consumption & good tariff

O&M

~1%

Of project cost / year (cleaning + checks, indicative)

Reference table

Estimated cost & payback by system type

“System cost” here means turnkey EPC-style supply + install + basic commissioning. Subsidy (if applicable) may reduce your net outlay—handled case by case.

System type Typical size Indicative turnkey band Payback / value
On-grid residential 3–10 kW ~₹45,000–70,000 / kW Often 3–6 years vs pre-solar bill
On-grid commercial 20–500 kW ~₹38,000–55,000 / kW Economies of scale; depends on import/export rules
Off-grid 2–5 kW PV + battery ~₹1.4L–5L+ total Compared to diesel / unreliable grid costs
Hybrid (solar + battery + grid) 5–20 kW class On-grid rate + battery pack & hybrid inverter Savings + outage protection for operations
Solar submersible pump 3–10 HP common ~₹45,000–95,000 / HP (site dependent) Diesel & maintenance avoided
Solar water heater (FPC/ETC) 100–500 LPD ~₹12,000–35,000 / 100 LPD band Lower geyser electricity or fuel bills
Solar atta chakki / productive use Motor-driven load Scoped after motor & run-hour study Cost per kg / hour of milling improves

What makes your quote go up or down

Same kW on paper can land at different prices—here is why.

Roof & structure

High wind zones, elevated sheds, or ballasted systems need heavier engineering and hardware.

Cable runs

Long AC/DC distances, conduit vs tray, and trenching increase copper and labor.

Component tier

Module efficiency, inverter brand, and warranty tiers move ₹/kW within a healthy band.

Grid & approvals

Net metering fees, bi-directional meters, and third-party inspections vary by DISCOM.

Illustrative savings

How to reduce your bill

Not your home—just a rounded story to show the shape of savings when self-consumption and net metering work in your favor.

  • Before: monthly electricity₹8,500
  • After 5 kW on-grid (illustrative)₹3,200
  • Effective reduction~62% lower bill

Actual numbers depend on generation, tariff slabs, export settlement, and your usage pattern.

Included in a typical GSM quote

  • Modules, inverter(s), structures, cables & accessories
  • Installation, grounding, and basic civil consumables
  • Design drawings and testing at commissioning
  • Handover dossier with serials and warranty path

Excludes: DISCOM fees (passed through), major civil retrofits unless scoped, and optional AMC.

Subsidy & policy

Central or state rooftop subsidy schemes change over time. If you qualify, we help with documentation—but the credited amount and timeline follow the issuing agency.

Net metering rules (settlement period, banking cap, fixed charges) directly affect savings. We explain the current DISCOM position for your address before you sign.

Financing & EMI

Many customers use bank or NBFC green loans. We can share indicative EMI math once you have a finalized BOQ and tenure in mind—loan approval stays between you and the lender.

On-grid vs Hybrid

Same roof, different objectives.

On-grid

Lowest cost per kW when grid is stable and goal is bill reduction.

  • Net metering where available
  • No battery replacement cycle
  • Shorter payback in many homes

Hybrid

Higher upfront cost; justified when outages hurt productivity or comfort.

  • Battery sizing for critical loads
  • Backup + export where configured
  • Plan for battery refresh years 7–10 (indicative)

Costs FAQs

Why is my neighbor’s ₹/kW different?

Roof type, cable lengths, component choices, and the year of purchase all shift price. Comparing only ₹/kW without those details is misleading.

Do you match the lowest vendor quote?

We compete on transparent BOQ and safe execution—not on hiding cheaper cables or skipping protections. If something is cheaper, we explain what changed.

When do I pay?

Typically advance on order, progress at material dispatch / structure completion, and balance at commissioning—exact splits are in your proposal.
